Below you will find detailed information regarding tuition, accommodation, optional fees, visa support, reservation policies, and what is included during your stay at the academy.

Besides the $100 one-time Application/Registration fee, students are required to pay the tuition fee, which includes training, food, and accommodation, within three days of your arrival at the academy, via online transfer or in cash.

Please note: For consistency and visa compliance, 1 month is defined as 30 days. Students booking a 1-month stay must arrive and depart within this 30-day period. Any additional days beyond 30 will be charged accordingly.

The per-month cost is reduced by $30 for every month you stay for (i.e. staying for 2 months will be $30 less per month; staying for 3 months will be $60 less per month and so on). Students who wish to study for one year or more will get even more discounts.
All of our prices are listed in US Dollars, but Euros, Pounds, and Chinese Yuan are acceptable as well. The prices & fees will be adjusted according to the fluctuation of Chinese commodity prices and the exchange rate.

Special Room Fees
The standard room at the academy, included in tuition, is a shared 2-person room with 2 beds, a desk, and a closet. Single rooms and rooms with wall-mounted, remote-controlled AC units are available for an additional monthly fee. The AC units have adjustable output angles, fully adjustable temperatures and air speed, and provide cold air in the summer months and heat in the winter months.

*AC Rooms – Electricity Cost
Rooms with air conditioning have an additional monthly electricity fee.
$160/month per room. If the room is shared, the cost is split between roommates ($80 each).
Short-term stays (1 month or less):
1–14 days: $40 per person (shared room)
15–30 days: $80 per person (shared room)
If you are in a shared room but do not have a roommate, the full room rate ($160/month) applies. This system is designed to keep overall accommodation costs lower for students, while fairly covering electricity usage and maintenance.
Other Optional Fees
Your tuition covers most necessities at the academy, including accommodation, utilities, meals, training, and bedding. There are some other optional costs you may want to keep in mind, however, when planning your trip. You can read more about suggested spending money on our Before You Come page.
Getting Here/Arrival
- Physical document mail for visa if required
- Pick-up service from Xuzhou or Lianyungang ($60)
- Self-purchased Chinese SIM card
- Long-term students may consider purchasing a Chinese phone
At the Academy
- Personal 15-liter water jug (6 yuan/bottle)
- Additional shoes or uniform items
- Personal Kung Fu weapons or training gears
Out and About

Additional Documentation Deposit (Visa Support Requests)
For students applying for a visa, some consulates may request additional official documentation beyond our standard acceptance materials. This can include items such as:
- Copies of the school license
- Identification documents of the headmaster
- Formal invoices
- Detailed course descriptions
- Other supplementary materials requested by consulates
Preparing and issuing these documents requires additional administrative time and, in some cases, involves sharing sensitive institutional information. For this reason, students who request such documentation will be required to pay a $100 documentation deposit.
Important:
- This is not an additional fee
- The $100 deposit will be fully deducted from your tuition
- It is separate from the standard $100 registration/application fee
This policy also helps ensure that official school documents are requested and used by students who intend to attend the academy, as these materials are issued specifically in support of your enrollment. Most students do not require the documents when applying for a visa. If your regional Chinese Consulate does require you to submit these, they will either clearly state it on the website under the required documents section or tell you directly during your visa application process. At that time, you can reach out to let us know which additional documents you need.

Student Park Pass (Optional)
Maling Academy is located beside Maling Mountain Scenic Area (also called Maling Forest Park), and students occasionally train within the park grounds as part of outdoor conditioning, endurance, and environmental training sessions. Students who wish to participate in these training sessions must purchase the local annual park pass, which costs approximately ¥80 RMB/Yuan. The pass is optional, but highly recommended. Students without the pass will remain at the academy and train separately when outdoor park training takes place.
In addition to access to Maling Mountain Scenic Area, the pass also grants unlimited entry for the calendar year to several nearby attractions frequently visited by students during weekends and free time, including:
- Yaowan Ancient Town
- Huating Tribal Park
- Songzhuang Homestay Scenic Area

Reservation & Cancellation Policies
To ensure fair scheduling and proper reservation planning, all reservations are subject to structured booking and cancellation policies.
Students are required to submit:
- A non-refundable $100 USD application fee
- A 25% reservation deposit no later than 30 days before arrival
Please note:
- Last-minute cancellations may result in loss of reservation deposits
- Date changes are subject to availability
- Long-term reservations that are shortened after arrival may incur reservation adjustment fees

Reservation Deposit
Reservation Types
The academy currently offers two booking structures:
Reserved Long-Term Stay
For students reserving several months in advance who wish to secure discounted long-term pricing and guaranteed extended accommodation.
Flexible Month-to-Month Stay
For students who prefer shorter-term flexibility and ongoing monthly payment without reserving long-term accommodation in advance.
Deposit
In addition to the non-refundable $100 USD application fee, students are required to submit a reservation deposit equal to 25% of their tuition no later than 30 days before arrival.
Students booking within 30 days of arrival must submit the reservation deposit immediately in order to confirm their space.
The reservation deposit is applied toward the student’s tuition balance upon arrival.
Failure to submit the reservation deposit by the required deadline may result in cancellation of the reservation and release of the room to other applicants.
Date Changes
Students may change their arrival date one time free of charge if the request is made more than 30 days before the original arrival date.
Additional date changes, or date changes requested within 30 days of arrival, are subject to room availability and require a $100 USD reservation adjustment fee.
Date changes are not guaranteed and depend entirely on current academy availability during the requested period.
Cancellations
The $100 USD application fee is non-refundable.
Reservation deposit refunds are handled as follows:

Approved refunds may be transferred toward a future stay one time within 12 months, subject to availability.
Early Departures & Shortened Stays
Long-term reservations block limited academy capacity for extended periods and may prevent other students or groups from attending during fully booked seasons.
Students who choose to leave significantly earlier than their reserved stay are subject to:
- Recalculation of tuition at the shorter-stay rate
- A Reservation Adjustment Fee equal to 15% of the unused reserved stay amount
Example:
A student reserving a 3-month stay who departs after 1 month will have:
- Their completed stay recalculated using the applicable shorter-stay pricing
- A 15% Reservation Adjustment Fee applied to the remaining unused reserved portion
Early departure recalculations primarily apply to students who reserve long-term stays using discounted long-term pricing.
